Wedding Vows

The marriage vows are the essence of the sacrament. Therefore, the Church requires that one of the following forms must be used:

Option 1

I N., take you, N., to be my wife/husband.
I promise to be faithful to you,
in good times and in bad,
in sickness and in health,
to love you and to honor you all the days of my life.

Options 2

I N., take you, N., for my lawful wife/husband,
to have and to hold, from this day forward,
for better, for worse,
for richer, for poorer,
in sickness and in health,
to love and to cherish
until death do us part.

Exchange of Rings

The wedding rings will then be blessed and exchanged. Each of you will say the following, while placing the ring on your spouse's finger:

N., receive this ring as a sign of my love and fidelity.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
