Choir

Overview:

This year we are in the works of having the choir attend the Chicago Choral Festival and Mass which is led by the American Federation Pueri Cantores (a National Catholic Choral Organization). This event brings choirs from the greater Midwestern region together to sing liturgical music spanning 1500 years – from Gregorian chant to music of the twenty-first century. The festival will be held on Saturday, March 3 at Holy Name Cathedral. As this is a more costly field trip we are looking for donors to help fund the trip. If you are interested in making a donation please contact either myself or Mrs. Schram.

The choir will once again be participating in our school’s Fine Arts Night. This event allows our students to showcase their talents in choir, band, Spanish and the incredible variety of art mediums taught to the students by Mrs. Drees.

To Register:

Signup Extended to November 30th!!!!

If your child would like to become a member of the St. Mary Parish School Choir please fill out the form to the right under Resources and make checks payable to Mrs. Schultz. Have your child return the form and check in an envelope by Friday, November 17. They can drop it off either at the School Office or my classroom. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email me.

In order to help defray the cost of sheet music and materials I am asking that each choir member contribute $15. I realize that every family’s situation is different so if this is not feasible please let me know.

Goal of the Program:

  • To develop skills to read parted music
  • To learn effective vocal skills and techniques
  • To Christmas carol at local nursing homes and assisted living houses
  • To learn repertoire for the school’s Christmas program and Fine Arts Night

Larger goals for the future include:

  • To compete at state choral competitions
  • To represent our school by singing the national anthem at a Brewers game
  • To become a member of the American Federation Pueri Cantores (a National Catholic Choral Organization)
