Winter Essentials Collection

Bitter cold creates life-threatening conditions for our homeless friends!

We all struggle in this bitter cold weather, but as we see on the news and know first-hand from our ministry partners, the cold is truly life-threatening to anyone out on the streets. Both St. Ben's Community Meal Program and Repairers of the Breach are stretched to their limits trying to serve the homeless in these brutal conditions. Both open emergency-warming rooms each night the temperatures drop to 10 degrees or below.

How can you help?

  • Bring needed items to any Mass the weekend of January 13/14.
(See the Winter Essentials Collection flyer for a list of needed items.)

  • Make a donation by writing a check to either Repairers of the Breach or St. Ben’s Community Meal Program. If you prefer to make a cash donation, a donation box will be available at the Bell Tower entrance of the Church and in the Gathering Space. (St. Ben's Community Meal Program and Repairers of the Breach will split cash donations equally.)

  • Organize a “chili dump” with your friends (Five friends make one batch and we throw them all together in a large Nesco.) or simply bring a batch to the Parish Office and we will freeze/save until we have enough to fill a Nesco. Please contact Pam Lownik if you would like to make chili.
