Do You Know How the Royal Affair Got Its Name?
In 1995, a group of dedicated visionaries — parents, parishioners, and friends of St. Mary’s — wanted to gather friends to raise funds through a very special event. An exciting dinner-dance-auction was decided as the venue for such an undertaking. In the quest for determining the name for this annual event, the Royal Affair was born.
This name was selected because of the school’s mascot / team name, The Royals. The Royals, of course, came from the school colors of Royal and White, and is also indicative of the colors often associated with the Blessed Mother. So, the name “Royal Affair” was selected and believed to be a spirited, honorable name and not an indication of a snobby or exclusive affair. Ask anyone who has attended to know that a great time is always had by all!
