Ms. Anna Babcock
K4 Kindergarten Teacher

Hello! I'm Anna Babcock. This is my first year teaching and I am very excited to get started! I long-term subbed here at St. Mary's at the end of last school year. Before that I spent most of last year subbing in several school districts in the surrounding area. I graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education and a minor in early childhood from Carroll College. I am thrilled to be working in the four-year-old kindergarten classroom and helping the "little ones" to build interest in learning, social skills, and being a part of a great school environment.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, attending sporting events (Packers and Brewers!), reading, and scrapbooking.

Mrs. Sue Stewart
K4 Teacher Assistant

Hi! I'm Sue Stewart, the 4K teacher aide. I went to undergraduate school at UW-Whitewater, and grad school through Aurora University. I taught for seven and one half years in the St. Francis School District. The first six years were spent at the middle school level, mostly in eighth grade. The last year and a half was as a third grade teacher.

After my second child was born, I resigned to stay at home for a few years. I spent lots of time going to playgroups and "mommy and me" classes/storytimes, but also found time to take a more active role in Elizabeth Ministry, tutor, and co-chair the Kiddie Game area at the festival. I also volunteered many hours in my children's preschool classes, which piqued my interest in becoming a teacher aide. I am honored to be a part of the great staff here at St. Mary's and look forward to working with the little ones.

When I'm not here I enjoy spending time with my immediate and extended families, often taking "day trips" to visit. When time allows, I enjoy baking, reading, and walking.

Mrs. Julie Hamlin
K5 Kindergarten Assistant

I am the assistant in the 5 year-old kindergarten classroom. I look forward to working with your children and assisting the teacher in any way that I can. My past experience includes a BS from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with a major course of study in Spanish, as well as postgraduate credits in education related areas. After college, I taught Spanish for ten years at Burlington High School.

My husband, Mike, and I have two children. We enjoy school and parish involvement, including band, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and athletics. We are very pleased to be a part of the St. Mary Faith Community.

Mrs. Theresa Rypel
K5 Kindergarten Assistant

Hi! I'm Theresa Rypel, the 5K teaching assistant in Mrs. Scharine's class. After over 20 years in the banking industry as a Training Director and Benefits Coordinator, I joined the St. Mary's School staff, and I absolutely love it! I work in the 5K program three days a week.

My husband Jeff and I have been members of St. Mary's for over 10 years, and we have one daughter. When I'm not at school I enjoy spending time reading, walking and doing crafts.

It's great to be part of the St. Mary Community, and it is a joy to work with your children.

I am thrilled to have joined the staff at St. Mary this year. It has been a passion of mine to teach and I am blessed to be starting my career in a wonderful school. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from UW-Milwaukee in 2006. Before my teaching career I was a volunteer at Holy Apostles for seven years. I am a mother of two daughters who attend HA. Currently at HA I hold the office of Home and School President.

I also coach the 6th grade girls volleyball team and play on an indoor (very competitive) recreation league in the winter. We have been the champs for four consecutive years, so I hope we continue. Go girls!! I am a Student Council Advisor at St. Mary and hope to expand my involvement. I believe in a well-rounded Catholic education focusing on service and academics. I love to laugh!! But most importantly, my focus is on building a positive, safe, and comforting classroom community (team) that can make a difference.

Mrs. Linda Scharine

This is my fifth year teaching in the 5K program here at St. Mary Parish School. I am happy to be teaching in the part-day and full-day combination classroom!

I am involved in Catholic education as a parish member, teacher, school parent, and volunteer. From each experience, I have gained more than I have given. I am pleased to be part of the Saint Mary School faculty.

Mrs. Barbara Anderson
Grade 1 Teacher

I have been teaching at St. Mary's for about 25 years, and have met and enjoyed so many children and their families. The best part of my job, besides having fun with the kids, is teaching them to read. It is a joy for me to see their little faces light up when they "get it."

I have 3 children: 2 daughters, 1 son, and 2 grandchildren. My hobbies include rollerblading, basket weaving, golf, reading, and walking.

Mrs. Karen Wilke
Grade 1 Teacher

This is my eighth full year at St. Mary's and in first grade. Prior to this I also taught fourth grade and long and short term substitute teaching assignments. I love the smell of crayons and scented markers, a new box of crayons and chalk, books, smiling faces, laughter, and teaching your children. Each fall I am excited to be entrusted with your children to teach, care and nurture. I enjoy guiding their journey as they continue to learn about God, read, write, work with numbers, and experience science. I look forward to being on the team with students and parents as the students strive to reach their full potential. I hope that first grade will be the start of a life-long love of learning.

My educational background consists of a B.S. in Nursing from Marquette University, certification in teaching grades 1-6 from Alverno College and assorted graduate level courses in education. My husband, Jim, and I have two children: our son, Brad, and daughter, Joy. Both our children are graduates of St. Mary's. We have a 3 year old son and 1 year old daughter who we just love to spend time playing with. I also love to shop, cook and one of my biggest passions is to travel. I’m very happy to be part of St. Mary’s School!

Miss Roxane Maciejczak
Grade 2 Teacher

I grew up in this area, graduating from St. Matthias grade school and Hamilton High School in Milwaukee. My father still lives nearby in my childhood home. I received my B.S.E. from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and have been teaching in the Archdiocese ever since, for over twenty-five years, most of them here at St. Mary's!

I've had experience teaching fifth, fourth, first, and second graders and one of the things I like about teaching is the variety that comes from getting to know a new group of students each year. I also value my time spent with my immediate and extended families, friends, and cats. I enjoy gardening, reading non-fiction, and shopping to find "just the right gift" for someone!

Mrs. Mariterese LaBissoniere
Grade 5 Teacher

I have been teaching students for 20 years and have been blessed to be a part of the St. Mary's family since 1989. I graduated from U.W. Whitewater with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education although I started out in Special Education. It was in Whitewater where I met my husband, Tom. We will celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary this December. In 1992 we were given a gift from God our daughter, Chérie. She attended St. Mary's because we knew Chérie would get a superior education in a caring and safe environment with incredibly dedicated teachers. Chérie is a freshman at Nathan Hale this year. We hope and pray that she utilizes her faith and value based education that she received from St. Mary’s.

Along with enjoying the delightful days of the summer, I spent time creating home made cards with my many stamps and did some scrap booking. I like to take my dog, Bailey, for walks as well as walk through the many malls to do shopping. I also adore looking for Asian décor as that is the style of several rooms in my house. I love spending time with my family and look forward to teaching my new fifth grade family members.

Mrs. Angie Gemignani
Grade 6 & 7 Grade Literature & English Teacher

Visit Classroom Web Site

This is my second year teaching at St Mary’s, and I can honestly say there’s no better place to be! Before coming to St Mary’s, I worked in the Milwaukee Public School District teaching both middle and high school English. I attended college at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. After graduation, I worked in advertising for two years and then decided that I wanted to become a teacher. I enrolled in the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and I earned my teaching certification. I am currently working towards my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction through National Louis University.

I am married, and my husband is a teacher too. He teaches 8th grade Social Studies and Language Arts in Shorewood. Outside of school, I like reading, watching movies, shopping, and listening to music. I also love spending time with my dog Kallie. Another one of my great passions is sports! I love volleyball, baseball, football, and I’m really looking forward to the basketball season. I’m a hometown fan, and I love the Badgers, Golden Eagles, the Milwaukee Bucks, and of course those St. Mary Royals!

As an English teacher, I have the chance to teach students how to be critical thinkers and effective problem-solvers. I also have the chance to share my love and appreciation of language and literature. By reading novels, short stories, and poems, students use their imaginations to take them to fantastic places, ride along on exciting adventures and experience life in a variety of ways. Being a teacher also allows me to continue my endeavors as a lifelong learner.

This is my second year at St. Mary Parish School. I graduated from UW-Platteville with a Bachelor Degree in Middle Level Education. Teaching middle school students is my passion! I taught previously at Beaver Dam Middle School and was a building substitute for South Milwaukee High and Middle School.

I have been married for over a year now to my wonderful husband, Ryan. We moved into our new house last June and spent the summer enjoying our air conditioning during the day and fire pit at night. We don’t have any children but we are the proud parents of 2 dogs. I look forward to another great year!

Mrs. Veronica Groubert
Grade 7: Middle School Science Teacher

Hi, my name is Mrs. Veronica Groubert and I am very excited to be joining St Mary's School as the middle school science teacher.

I am a 2006 graduate of Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Science. I have previously volunteered in numerous grades at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School in Scottsdale, Arizona. Since relocating to Wisconsin in July of 2006, I have taught in the Mukwonago and Waukesha Public School Districts.

I have been married since August 2006 to a wonderful man named Brian. He is a chemical engineer working out of Waukesha who services industrial facilities all over the state. We moved into our first house last May and have already been working on numerous projects to make the house our own. We don't have any kids yet, but we have a small cat named Grace. I enjoy the outdoors, singing and playing in my church choir and orchestra, and relaxing in front of a fire watching the Green Bay Packers play! I am looking forward to a great rest of the year at St. Mary's!

Mrs. Joy Wallschlaeger
Grade 7: Middle School Social Studies Teacher

I am a certified teacher in Science and Social Studies at the secondary level, which is for grades 6 through 12. I've taught at Oak Grove Junior High School in Bloomington, Minnesota (Science grades 6, 7, and 8); Oak Creek High School (Freshmen Earth Science and Sophomore Biology) and Brown Deer High School (Science-Life, Earth, Physical, and Chemistry to Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors). I also set up the Science Resource Center at Brown Deer High School. I began my career at St. Mary Parish School 30 years ago. I love Middle School aged students and enjoy the St. Mary's students because they are enthusiastic about learning and realize how important education is for the future.

The education, students receive at St. Mary's, is exceptional. I speak from experience as both my children graduated from St. Mary's and did extremely well in Catholic High Schools and in College.

My family and I enjoy the fine arts and I consider this my favorite hobby. My husband, David, my daughter, Amy, my son, Todd, and I all took piano lessons for many years as children. We all took dance lessons at various studios including Fred Astaire in Mequon. Amy has a history, English, and Dance education degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, David has his Master's Degree from Cardinal Stritch, and my degree is from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in Science and Social Studies Education. Todd is working on a Pre-Law degree at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Education is important to us and we all love to learn.

Mrs. Jude Kosmider
Grade 8: Middle School Literature Teacher

Upon graduating from Marquette University, I began teaching high school English. When my eldest son was born, I put my teaching career on hold in favor of being a full time mom. My career here at St. Mary's began as a volunteer mom tutoring in the Library and Learning Center. [Both of my sons are graduates of St. Mary Parish School.] The need for a long-term English sub arose in what was then the Junior High and, when asked to fill it, I agreed. I discovered a love of teaching early adolescents, and, hence, that 4th quarter substitute position became a 25 plus-year commitment to the students and families of SMPS.

Because of my love of learning, I am frequently cast in the role of student. I have a master degree from Mount Mary College and continue to enjoy the challenge of graduate classes. My most rewarding graduate class occurred during the summer of 2004 when I attended three weeks of drama classes in England, first in Shakespeare's hometown of Stratford-upon-Avon and then in London at the University of London. The fulfillment of this lifelong dream was made possible through fellowships I received from the Herb Kohl Fellowship Award and from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.

I also love to write, especially poetry and non-fiction, and toy with the idea of someday writing for publication. Reading is another passion of mine, especially non-fiction and historical fiction.

Most mornings I can be found taking a pre-dawn, four-mile walk, which both energizes and relaxes me. I love to travel and look forward to further opportunities to study and travel abroad. My dream is to some day teach English in the Far East, preferably China, whose ancient culture fascinates me. By far, the greatest source of joy for me is time spent with my family.

Mrs. Mary Wackman
Grade 8: Middle School Religion Teacher

It is an honor to help our middle school students develop their relationship with God and learn more about our faith. They have much to share and are open to new experiences. I have been involved in Religious Education for many years at St. Mary's and am currently a Liturgy of the Word facilitator on Sunday mornings for fifth graders.

My undergraduate degree is from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and I am currently working on my Master's degree through Cardinal Stritch University. My husband, Chris, and I have been married for over twenty years and are active members of St. Mary Parish. In our free time we like to go camping, hiking, and golfing with our sons, Donovan and Kevin.

Mrs. Sherie Drees
Art Teacher - Middle School

I am happy to say that this is my third year teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Art at St. Mary Parish School. I have a BFA in Painting and Drawing as well as an Art Education Certification in teaching PreK-12th grade. I have studied at both the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design (where I met my husband) and The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I have been married for one year to my wonderful husband, Dustin, who works as a Graphic Designer.

I am very passionate about art and teaching and am happy to be part of such a wonderful school system. It is my hope to help enhance the educational experience by providing my students with the tools they will need to express themselves and to form a better understanding of the world.

Mr. Pierre Allard
Band Teacher - Grades 4-8

Visit Classroom Web Site

I'm a Graduate of the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. My degree is in Instrumental Music Education grades K-12 and I've been teaching here at St. Mary's for nine years. My continued interest and dedication to teaching music comes entirely from our students in the band program. We have an excellent student body here that has a tremendous work ethic, which makes my job a real joy. When I'm not at St. Mary's I teach privately four nights a week. It is there I have the opportunity to work with older students, of which many are at an advanced level.

I've been married seventeen years and have a three-year-old daughter. Family time is precious to my wife and I, so weekend get-a-ways in our RV really is a great way to enjoy quality time together.

I have a passion for the study of why we believe what we believe as Christians, which inspires me to read and study the bible and the writings of Christian Apologetics. My hobbies mainly include performing as a musician. I lead the jazz orchestra Big Swing Face, play as a member of a horn band called Old School Soul and freelance as a soloist for weddings and liturgical ceremonies. Projects around the house help me to fill any of the gaps in my time off from work, family and hobbies.

Mrs. Natalie Beacom

Hello! My name is Natalie Beacom and I'm honored to have the opportunity to share time with your children as the St. Mary's School Librarian! Steve and I also enjoy vacationing with friends and family, boating with friends on Little Muskego Lake, and camping at different state and national parks.

I have loved teaching at St. Mary’s. As a parish member, and having my daughters here since kindergarten, I feel St. Mary’s is "home". One of my favorite things about being part of St. Mary’s "family" is the friendships that I have developed over the years. The children, parents, faculty and staff have all been wonderful.
