Founded in 1956 in Latiboliere (in Jeremie Commune, the west end of the southern peninsula), Notre-Dame du Perpetuel Secours serves a rural population of 15,000 people. Of the 13,000 Catholics, 10,000 are active.

The Parish

The parish has a small parish center and 8 chapels, 6 of them with small schools that have no walls and few supplies. Three more chapels are under construction. One primary school is served by the Good Shepherd Sisters; one secondary school is run by the Marist Brothers. The parish also has a dispensary and a sowing school.

The Pastor

The current Pastor, Pere Dante Daniel was born and grew up in the village of Carrefour Sanon, about 10 miles southeast of Jeremie city. Ordained over 35 years ago, he was one of the founding priests of the Jeremie Diocese. He has served as a priest in various parishes in the diocese, starting out with the parish of Previle going multiple other places, and finally serving the people of Moron for 12 years before being sent to Latiboliere to replace Pere Tony in January of 2008. Pere Dante has lots of experience working with both local parishioners and twinning projects, and we are fortunate to have his presence and support as we continue our twinning relationship with the people of Latiboliere.
