Mom’s Faith Connection

Every First and Third Monday of the Month
9:15–11:00 A.M.
Beginning September 18, 2006

Interested in learning more about the faith that your children are learning about in school? Mom’s Faith Connection is a group of women who want to know more about their Catholic Faith. They meet on Monday mornings, the first and third Mondays of each month, in Room 313 for faith sharing, scripture study and dialogue. Babysitting is available on-site for a nominal fee. Call Mary Matestic at 414-425-2174 x338, or Theresa Illingworth at 414-425-4765, if you would like to join the fall sessions.

Women’s Autumn Retreat

Each year interested women from St. Mary’s gather at the Siena Center in Racine for a weekend of quiet reflection. Drawing close to God in prayer, women are fed spiritual food on the shores of Lake Michigan in the heart of Autumn. The 2006 retreat reflected upon the theme, "By Name I have Called You." Come and be stilled in God’s presence.

The Labyrinth

Our new devotional courtyard offers a place of quiet and reflection for our parish community. Located just off Edgerton Ave., between the church and the parish offices, a labyrinth is situated, inviting people to come and find quiet for their souls. The purpose of the Labyrinth is to find the place of union with God. The Labyrinth is open for the sacred journey each day during the daylight hours.

If you have questions about how to walk the Labyrinth, please visit the Walk the Labyrinth page or call the parish office and there will be scheduled times to learn about this ancient prayer journey.

JustFaith

A Journey into the Gospel Invitation to be a People of Justice and Compassion

Engaging in the Church’s social mission is without argument one of the most challenging messages of our Gospel Tradition. JustFaith is a process that recognizes the complexity of the call to compassion and provides a wide range of compelling resources and experiences to communicate this tradition. The prophetic call to bring justice to a broken world deserves a preparation that honors the difficulty of the task.

JustFaith is a formation process and spiritual journey. Over the course of seven to eight months, participants meet weekly for readings, videos, lecture, discussion, prayer, retreats, and handson experiences in justice education. The intent is to provide a tapestry of learning opportunities that emphasize and enliven the remarkable justice tradition of the Church. Participants are not only exposed to a substantive and demanding course of study but also are afforded the privilege of becoming a small faith community with other participants and sharing a journey of faith and compassion that is both life-giving and challenging.

JustFaith will be offered at St. Mary Catholic Faith Community starting this Fall. The 30-week program will meet on Thursday evenings, starting September 7, 2006, and finishing May 17, 2007.

For more information, call Fred Matestic at 414-303-3852 or Pam Lownik at 414-427-9514.
